In a nuclear power plant the reactor transfers the heat to a flow of liquid sodium, which in a heat exchanger transfers the heat to boiling water. Saturated vapor steam at 5 MPa exits this heat exchanger and is then superheated to 600?C in an external gas-fired super heater. The steam enters the turbine, which has an extraction at 0.4 MPa to an open FWH, and the condenser pressure is 10 kPa. Determine the heat transfer in the reactor and in the super heater to produce a net power output of 5 MW.
