A new drug is being developed by an important pharmaceutical company. It has been noted that the interaction in solution between the newly development drug and a common excipient leads to formation of potentially toxic degradants of the drug.It was determined that the degradation of the newly developed drug follows first order kinetics with the time taken to decrease the concentration to 30 percent of the initial (2mM) being 5 days.

a) Calculate the rate constant for the first order degradation reaction.use the appropriate units.

b) Determine the half-life for this degradation reaction.

c) Calculate the rate constant if the reaction had followed zero order kinetics.Use appropriate units.

d) Calculate the rate constant if the reaction had followed second order kinetics. Use appropriate units.
