1) Imagine you're a microbiologist studying a particular type of disease-causing bacterium for quite a number of years. About 10 years ago an antibiotic was discovered and utilized that seemed to control this bacterium in patients by inhibiting an enzyme in the bacterium necessary for nutrient uptake. Recently, however, you noticed that the antibiotic was becoming much less effective. In followup studies you noticed that there were two alleles for this enzyme. 10 years ago, about 900 bacteria had two recessive alleles out of a total of every 10,000 bacteria. Using the Hardy-Weinberg equation(s), determine the frequency of the recessive and dominant alleles.
2) 10 years later you assessed the population of the same bacterium, the antibiotic wasn't nearly as effective, and you found that about 1,600 bacteria out of 10,000 had two dominant alleles. Determine the frequency of the bacterial heterozygotes.
3) Has evolution occurred over the 10 year period of your study? How do you know?
It is a very curcial concept to understand how the immune response is mounted against viruses, bacteria, protozoans and helminthes. For an effective immune response, both innate and adaptive immunity should work together.
This Project report elaborates a critical review of important elements attached to Advanced Glycated End Products (AGEs). It is very crucial to understand the process called Millard reaction.
Soil stabilization is the permanent physical and chemical alteration of soils to enhance their physical properties. Stabilization can increase the shear strength of a soil and control the shrink-swell properties.
