1. The absolute Seebeck coefficient for a material is given by α = (300. + 150. T - T2 ) × 10-6 V/K, where T is in °C. Determine the formula for the (a) Peltier and (b) Kelvin coefficients.

2. Using the temperature to Seebeck voltage relationship for the iron-copper thermocouple given in Example, determine formulae for the Seebeck, Peltier, and difference in Kelvin coefficients and evaluate them at 0.00°C and 200.°C.

Example

The open circuit voltage of an iron-copper thermocouple is approximately given by

Φfe-cu = (-13.4 T + 0.014T2 + 0.00013T3) x 10-6 V

where T is in °C, not K. At 100.°C, determine

a. The relative Seebeck coefficient αfe-cu.

b. The relative Peltier coefficient πfe-cu.
