A gear with 10 teeth is fixed on shaft A.

Gears with 48 teeth and 12 teeth are fixed on shall B.

Gears with 60 teeth and 15 teeth are fixed on shaft C.

A gear with 72 teeth is mounted on shaft D.

Suppose that the motor is spinning shaft A at a speed of 1800 rpm. State all speeds in units of rpm.

a) What is the speed of shaft B?

b) What is the speed of shall C?

c) What is the speed of shaft D?

Question 2:

Hydrogen gas (cp = 14.513 kJ/kg.K, cv = 10.38911/kg.K, k = 1.397, R = 4.124 kJ/kg.K) is compressed in a piston cylinder device in a reversible and adiabatic manner. The initial conditions are 5.0 L, 17oC, 200 kPa and the final volume is 0.25 L. Determine:

a. The temperature after compression, in K.

b. The work required to compress the gas, in kJ.

Question 3:

Air flows steadily from a tank, through a hose of diameter and exits to the atmosphere from a nozzle of diameter as shown below. The pressure in the tank remains constant at 3.0 kPa (gage) and the atmospheric conditions are standard temperature and pressure. Determine the flowrate and the pressure in the hose.
