ICD-10-CM codes for the following scenario: A 45 year-old woman presents to the ER with exacerbation of left upper quadrant pain. Laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging were obtained and indicated acute idiopathic pancreatitis. The patient has diabetic hyperglycemia due to previous episodes of pancreatitis, and she takes insulin on a regular basis. IV fluids were given along with pain medication. The patient was advised to remain NPO for the next 24-48 hours to rest the pancreas. A follow-up appointment with her PCP is recommended for further outpatient workup to determine the etiology of the pancreatitis.
