Question

t tests are often used to determine the efficacy of a particular treatment. In ideal randomized clinical trials, subjects and providers don't know who is getting the treatment and who is getting the placebo. This way, the data won't be compromised. It is, in fact, quite important that everyone believe they are getting the treatment.
