Assignment - T-Tests
The dataset called ‘Attitudinal Data" contains information on respondents who were asked to express their views about their local police department. The dependent variables in the data are police performance (performance) and confidence, and the independent variables are gender, age and ethnicity. Using this dataset, do the following:
1. Recode:
a. Age variable into 2-categorical variable called Age1, with 1 = Older (23 years to 55 years) and 0 = Younger (16 years to 22 years).
Note. The new variable you have created should be used in the analysis.
2. Treat all missing values by assigning -99 or 99.
3. Create 6 hypotheses (Null and Alternative hypotheses) involving the dependent variables and each of the three independent variables. Again, remember to use the new variable you created for age.
4. Following the creation of the null and alternative hypothesis statements, run univariate statistics on each of the variables to be used in the hypothesis tests.
a. As you have done in the previous assignment, create a descriptive table and interpret the results. NO CHART IS REQUIRED.
5. Run the an independent-sample t-tests to test each of the six hypotheses.
b. Determine the effect size for each of the analysis you run
6. Provide a table (similar to the one on Blackboard) and write-up your findings. As part of your interpretation of the results, indicate whether you accept the null or alternative hypothesis and also explain the effect size.
