The wider orrcurence of glycolysis in nearly all organisms, both aerboic and anaerobic, indicates that it is one of the most ancient metabolic pathways. However, glycolysis occurs with variations in nature. The most common reaction sequence is referred to Embden-Meyerhof (a.k.a Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas; EMP) pathway converts glucose to pyruvate in all domains of life. On the other hand. a variation of the EMP pathway, know as Enter-Doudoroff (ED) pathway, occurs only in prokaryotes and describes an alternative series of reactions that catabolize glucose to pyruvate using a set of enzymes different from those used in glycolysis. a) What are the distinct reaction of the Enter-Doudoroff pathway in comparison to Embden-Meyerhof-Parnas pathway? b)What are ATP and NAD(P)H yields of the Entner-Doudoroff pathway im comparison to EMbden-Meyerhof-Parnas pathway?
Which piece of evidence below (a-d) best supports the hypothesis that protein structure and function are correlated?
Provide 3-examples in which fluid movement down a pressure gradient is a component of healthy functioning of the body.
You have a 1mM stock solution of Arsenic to treat culture cells in a liquid medium. You need to treat your cells with Arsenic such that it has a final concentration of 5nM once it has been added to the cells.
how can You characterize a new enzyme's kinetics. No, the activity does not change with increasing enzyme concentration correctly. The enzyme may be only active in a dimer that forms a high concentration.
Determine what makes a molecule a hydrogen bond donor or an acceptor? Can a hydrogen on a carbon atom be a hydrogen bond donor? Explain your answer.
In a theoretical operon, the genes A, B, C, and D represent a repressor gene, a promoter sequence, an operator, and the structural gene but not necessarily in that order.
Create a void function that will take an empty array as it's only argument and return a three dimensional vector. The fucntion must use a getline to read a string from the console
You inoculate an unknown strain of bacteria into a phenol red lactose broth and a nitrate broth. After incubation, you see significant bubbles in the Durham tubes of both tests.
Application of an insecticide to control mosquito populations in malaria infested areas quickly resulted in a dominant mutation, R, resulting in insecticide resistance.
though , certain pairs of his progeny, when interbred, produced red and white progeny at a frequency of about 25 percent. Nick was soon removed from the stud lists of the Holstein breeders. Explain why, using symbols.
Living organisms make and use three main types of ribonucleic acids for their biological functions: ribosomal RNA (rRNA) messenger RNA transfer RNA.
