Consider a parallel plate capacitor composed of two very large (approximate as infinite) square plates as shown in Figure 2. The actual area of the plates is 0.2 m2 and when a charge of 2.5 × 10 -6 C is placed on each plate (positive on one, negative on the other) they are found to store 3.1 × 10 -3 J of energy.
