A block of mass m=0.20 kg is attached to a spring with force constatnt k=12.0 N/cm. The block and spring are placed in a viscous medium so that the oscillations will be damped. At time t=0, the mass is displaced from the equilibrium point and released from rest. It is observed that the amplitude of the oscillations decreases to half its initial value in a time period of 4.0 s.

a) Calculate the damping constant B and the difference between the angular frequencies of the damped oscillator w' and the corresponding undamped oscillator w.

b) Determine the decrement of the motion.

c) How long does it take for the energy of the system to decrease to half itw initial value?
