Carefully read each scenario below and determine whether the data contained in the variables is qualitative or quantitative. Indicate your choice by selecting either 1(Discrete) or 2(Continuous) from the drop down menus next to each scenario.

a.  A meteorological survey records the daily temperature-high, on the Celsius scale, at various locations to track climate changes. A sample of the data is: X={23.1, 24.7, 22.0, 25.6, 30.1, 32.2, 34.1, 28.7, 25.0...)

Assume that temperature can be recorded to an infinite level of precision; however, only 1 decimal place is reported because greater prevision is not required.

b. A market survey asks consumers to identify their favourite type of chocolate bar. The variable might look like this: X = {Mars, Snickers; Score; Mars; Bounty; Oh Henry; Snickers; Kit Kat, ...}

c.  Lewis Hamilton's engineering team monitors the engine RPM (revolutions per minute) during a Formula 1 race, recording a data point every 1/5th of a second. A sample of the data is: X={5100, 5912, 7057, 9851, 12210, 14003, 7315, 8421...}

Assume that the engine's crankshaft may complete partial revolutions and that the results above have been rounded before reporting because greater precision is not required.

d. Arnold's new year's resolution for 2021 is to bench press 300 lbs (about 136 kg) by the end of the year. To monitor his progress, he records the amount of weight that he lifts during every training session. For example: X={225 lbs, 225 lbs, 245 lbs, 225 lbs, 250 lbs, 225 lbs, 250 lbs,...}

The smallest weight plates at Arnold's gym are 2.5 lbs and he has balance them by placing 1 on either side of the barbell. Therefore, the smallest possible increment in his lifts is 5 lbs.

e. A poll asks American historians to evaluate the claim that Donald Trump is the worst president of the United States. The historians are asked to respond with one of the following statements: Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Neutral, Agree, Strongly Agree.

f. A poll asks American historians who they think is the worst president of the United States. A sample of their responses is: X={Donald Trump, Andrew Johnson, Donald Trump, Donald Trump, James Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, Donald Trump...}
