Earnings per share (EPS) is a company's net profit divided by the number of common share it has outstanding (Investopedia). What does net profit mean here (do I check the net profit section in the P/L statement)? And what does outstanding mean in this statement (the common stock the company wants to sell to the investors but not yet sold)?
