Your task is to design and conduct an inquiry to determine the acceleration of gravity. You know that the accepted value of g is 9.8 m/s2 but how close will your experiment results replicate this value? Your report can be quite simple; it only needs:
-A numbered list of the basic steps of your method.
-A diagram, photo attached as a .jpg. or a slow motion video clip that is well explained (you can narrate the video to indicate the key positions of focus).
-Your observations, analysis and conclusion. Include a percentage error calculation.
You will need some method of either timing the motion or perhaps even recording the velocity of an object more directly (slow motion camera.). Possible ideas for your experiment include:
-Timing the bounce of a ball from the floor to the ceiling and back.
-Using a ramp to dilute gravity to make the time measurement more accurate. Your acceleration result will require some trigonometry to compare it to the accepted value, 9.8 m/s2.
-Dropping an aerodynamic object from some great height and timing the drop.
