Both heating and cooling for a structure can be furnished by a heat pump. One such device operating in winter uses R-134a at a flow rate of 0.018 kg/s with the following process state points: condenser entry 800kPa, 55°C; condenser exit 750 kPa with 3 C° subcooling; compressor entry 200 kPa superheated by 4 C°. Determine the (a) isentropic efficiency of the compressor; (b) the rate of heat supplied to the heated room; and (c) the COP of the heat pump.
