Question: The top surface of an S-shaped aluminum block, shown in Figure, is subjected to a uniform pressure of 20 N/mm2. The bottom is fixed. The dimensions of the block are t = 3 mm, L = 15 mm, b = 10 mm, and h =24 mm. The material properties are E =70,000 N/mm2 and v =0.3. For a preliminary analysis determine stresses in the block using a simple model consisting of four plane frame elements.
