Assessment Task 1 - Project

Project Summary: Review the provided scenario provided prior to commencing the assessment task of developing a report regarding the impact of IT development to operational practices and strategic plan.

Project Details -

Assessment Scenario: The owner of the company EnglishForYou plans to develop a new website to further help the online sales of the company's English educational books.

The owner is very old-style and new to technology

A former employer developed a very basic site. Unfortunately, neither the owner nor his team of three people (Secretary, Logistics Officer and Payroll Officer) knows how to make modifications or access this site.

The owner and his team of three are thinking about either somehow using and modifying the existing website or developing a new one.

In either case, the company's staff will require training.

Time and cost will be central.

For this assessment task required to complete the following:

Develop a report regarding the impact of IT developments by comparing information related to current operational practices and strategic plan to determine possible IT gaps and improvement opportunities.
Compare and document advantages and disadvantages of the current and proposed IT system.
Determine required changes, the objectives and implications of introducing changes and submit findings to the client (assessor role-play) for feedback.

Expected performance: Perform the following to demonstrate the competency for this unit:

Performing research on current industry environment.
Comparing information related to operational practices and strategic plans.
Assessing existing IT systems and identifying an appropriate system.
Determining the impact of developments on business and suggesting solutions.
Identifying associated risks and mitigation options.

Assessment Task 2 - Project

Project Summary: For this assessment, the student must have completed Assessment 1. The student will be required to develop an Action plan for the changes proposed in Assessment 1.

Project Details: The Action Plan must take account all relevant considerations such as financial, legal, human relations, internal and external operating environments.

The Action Plan must be documented ensuring all the following are detailed correctly:

standards, targets and implementation methods
scope, time and budget
name, role and responsibilities of all internal and external participants
resources involved and deliverables
risk and mitigation details
tracking of each process

The action plan should be in accordance with the policy and procedures of the company.

Expected performance: The student is expected to perform the following to demonstrate the competency for this unit:

Ability to develop an action plan which covers implementation of changes accordingly to organisational policies and procedures.
