Assessment Title - Network Requirement Analysis and Design
Assignment Description
Background and Objective
A real estate business is expanding. You are hired as a network engineer to design and implement their IT infrastructure. It is an assumption that the organisation intends to use the latest technology however, reasonable budget and expending is highly recommended.
In a face-to face meeting with the top-level Management, you are able to receive only the general information about the organisation. The general information is as follows:
There are two sites one in Sydney and other in Adelaide. Sydney site requires 40 employees while Adelaide site have 25 Employees. Both the sites have Managers, Customer Services, , Sales and Marketing and Finance.
A network design and implementation proposal is required. As a part of proposal, submit a report to address following two tasks.
You are required to provide a basic structure of a suitable network and address the following questions/objectives:
a) Identify the important points/requirements about the proposed network.
b) Draw a diagram of your proposed network showing devices, network types and media.
c) Design relevant subnetting for the proposed network, by considering the future requirements for scalability.
d) List the important devices to develop the network for the business, and explain their roles.
e) Explain the possible deployment of wireless technology and its uses and contribution to the improvement of company's business.
A network design and implementation proposal is required. As a part of proposal, submit a report to address following two tasks.
Task 1:
In order to gather (user, application, and network requirements) different techniques i.e., Interviews and questionnaire are used. Create a questionnaire to get application requirements. The questionnaire must have at least 4 questions. Describe the purpose of each question and categorise the question whether it is focused to user, application or device requirements. Record possible answers to use in next task.
Analyse the questionnaire and clearly indicate the information, that you found during the interview, is applicable for the network design. As for example: suppose after having a questionnaire session with the manager you found that one of the requirements for the network design was mobility. Clearly, you would want to have a WiFi connectivity.
Task 2:
• Based on the requirements identified at Task1, design a WAN structure of the business showing all devices such as routers, switches, links, etc., by using a relevant network designing software. Draw a diagram to illustrate your high-level design.
• Determine network addresses by using the subnet 192.168.P.0/24, where P is your group number. You also need to use Variable Length Subnet Mask (VLSM) technique whilst creating the subnets and allow 20% for possible future expansion.
• You need to explain the technical aspects for the choosing devices such routers, switches, hubs, cables, servers etc.
• Configure the topology devices with basic configurations, routing and NAT (Using Packet Tracer). Extra configuration such as VLAN and Port security entitled to extra marks.
Task 3:
• Video demonstration (6 minutes at Max)
