ASSESSMENT DETAILS

The assignment will contain two main elements:

Analysis of the Financial reports

• Provide an analysis of the ‘Financial reports' to ascertain and determine measures of business performance. This will entail applying relevant analysis and/or calculations to the financial results including Financial Statements, ratios and other performance indicators
• Should focus on what is revealed by the ‘Financial reports' and any other calculations undertaken in the context of the company's operations. In particular, any important changes should be identified, discussed and where possible, explained.
• You should also provide an overall assessment of the company's performance and discussion regarding which aspect of the company's financials has demonstrated the most improvement.

• Provide an analysis of your selected company in terms of how it is meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as revealed in the ‘Sustainability report'
• As a part of this analysis you will also need to provide recommendations on how your selected company can more effectively meet the SDGs and an opinion on whether these are an important part of a companys organisational functioning.

Under no circumstances are students to make direct personal contact with the company or its officers (for example by telephone, fax, letter or email) in an attempt to gather further information.

SUGGESTED REPORT FORMATAND APPROACH

I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The executive summary should give an overview of your essay, possibly covering the following aspects:
• A summary of purpose, key themes, aspects covered and/or findings
• Abridged findings/recommendations.

II. TITLE PAGE
Your title or cover page needs to convey the main information about your assignment. It must look professional and include:
• Course Code and Name
• Title of the assessment task
• Name of Course-Coordinator, Lecturer and/or tutor
• Trimester, year and date of submission

III. INTRODUCTION & BACKGROUND: COMPANY OVERVIEW/HISTORY
• Introduction/purpose of the essay
• A (brief) history/background of the company and how it formed
• Financial milestones and/or achievements
• Any major changes in its structure over its life - ie mergers/demergers/major capital management programs etc
• Other relevant information

IV. BODY OF ESSAY: ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION
The main body of the report should include two key aspects:
Financial report analysis
• A discussion of what is revealed by the analysis of the financial results of the company as contained in the ‘Financial reports' (Financial Statements, ratios, other performance indicators and narrative (including any calculations undertaken))
• Any important changes over the most recent period should be identified, discussed and, where possible, explained.
• Provide an overall assessment of the company's performance and discussion regarding which aspect of the company's financials is strongest and has demonstrated the most improvement.
The main areas of analysis (but not limited to) are:
• Financial Profitability (Topic 7: Income Statements)
• Financial Position (Topic 8: Balance Sheets)
• Liquidity/Working Capital (Topic 6: Working Capital)
• Capital Structure (Topic 8: Balance Sheet; Topic 11: Short term & Capital Expenditure)
• Overall Performance

Sustainability report analysis
• Provide an analysis of your selected company in terms of how it is meeting the UN SDGs as revealed in the ‘Sustainability report'.
• Provide a critical evaluation of the internal and external environmental factors impacting the entities financial situation and how this may influence the companies ability to mee the SDGs. This may include a discussion around (but not limited to) the following aspects: Social, Cultural, Economic, Environmnetal, Financial, Legal-regulatory, Political, Technological, Demographic.
• Provide recommendations on how your selected company can more effectively meet the UN SDGs and an opinion on whether the SDGs should be considered an important part of a companys organisational functioning

V. CONCLUSIONS AND FINDINGS
The Conclusion is your evaluation or summary of the major points and key findings (summary of lessons learned) as detailed in the Analysis and Discussion. The Conclusion should always be concise and must not contain any new information. It should draw the information together and summarise what you have found.

VI. RECOMMENDATIONS
Your recommendations are the culmination of all your work and should deliver a well-rounded and thoughtful ending to your report. The material in the body of your report provides the basis for your considerations. The conclusion provides a summary of your deliberation over your findings. The recommendations provide the reader with your considered opinions of what would be the best decision(s) to make, or course(s) of action to follow (moving forward), based on your research and critical analysis.

For this assignment your recommendations should be directed towards both the internal management/directors of the company and also any interested external stakeholders.

VII. REFERENCES
This must contain full details of all sources referred to or cited in the assignment, using the Federation University author-date (APA) style.
