Complete an internal persuasive email responding to the message below. While this is an INDIVIDUAL assignment, some of what you learn during your research will be helpful in your group project.

Instructions

Determine in what industry your company or business performs your work. This business can be for profit or nonprofit.

Take Note: When developing your key points and evidence to support them, be specific and show me that you did your homework. General statements like, "With millions of people using Twitter, we should too," aren't helpful. Statements like this are comparable to telling me the sky is blue or concrete is hard.

Deliverable:

1. Style: Memo. Include To:, From:, Date:, and Subject Line.

2. Spacing: Single space with a double space between paragraphs.

3. Type Font: Use a 12 point type.

4. Formatting: Use your judgment in making this memo easy to read. Take time with your formatting. This is an important part of making your work accessible. Review what we have covered in class so far this semester.

5. Tone: Remember, this is an internal persuasive message to your manager. The tone of your message should reflect this. While confidence is good, don't appear arrogant.

Plan

1. While you do not need to submit a planning outline with this assignment, you should do this on your own. You planning work will show in the final results.

2. Gather ideas from your research.

3. Sources, Documentation, and Organization

4. You must use at least two cited sources in your memo. One of the sources must be an academic source.

5. The evidence you use to support your recommendation must be cited "in-text." List your references at the end of your email. You must document your sources using the APA style guide. This will be discussed in class. Do not use MLA or any other documentation style. Here are a few links to help you "get it right". These same links are recommended in class.

6. You may only use one quote that is no longer than a sentence in this memo. This quote must be cited appropriately. You will also be paraphrasing your research (putting your research material in your own words) and yes, you will be citing your paraphrases appropriately.

7. You will be graded on the quality of your reasons as well as the cited research supporting it.

8. Textbook for Help: Use Cardon chapter 10 to guide you in developing this internal persuasive message.

9. Message Order: An internal persuasive memo is fairly direct as it opens with the business problem. Additionally, your recommendation should come early in your memo. See the Cardon example and examples given in class.

1. Use the COB Rubric and this assignment guide as a "revision checklist." Remember, this checklist or "rubric" tells you what will be evaluated in your paper.
