You have a contaminated air stream containing 1000 ppmV of toluene and you decided to incinerate to a DRE of 99.9%. You are using butane as fuel to reach the temperature and consider the lean toluene has no heating value.

Determine how much butane would you need to burn 1000 cft of contaminated air steam. Consider no heat loss in the incinarator.

Show that presence of toluene does not improve fuel efficiency for any practical purpose.
