A centrifugal compressor delivers 20 kg/s of air at 0.32 MN/m2 when running at 17500 rpm and absorbing 2800 kW. The inlet total conditions are 0.1 MN/m2 and 17C and the diameters of the impeller tip and diffuser inlet are 0.43 and 0.53 respectively. The diffuser passgers are 54 mm deep and half the toal losses occur in these. Determine for this machine the slip factor, isentropic efficiency and the Mach number at the diffuser inlet, stating your assumptions. For air Cp=1.0 kJ/kg.K and sp. Heat ratio = 1.4.
