a) A three span continuous beam has spans of 27, 30, and 27 feet. The beams support one-way slabs, 6 inches thick that span 20 feet center to center. Assume that the beams are 16 inches wide and 24 inches deep. Determine the dead load in pounds per linear foot for the beams, from the concrete structure alone.

b) The floor beams support ceiling, ductwork, and lighting fixtures weighing a total of 8 psf, ceramic floor tile weighing 16 psf, and partitions equal to a uniform dead load of 20 psf. Determine the total dead load.

c) If the building is to be used for offices, what is the specified live load?

d) If the live load to the interior beams may be reduced, what is the reduced live load for the 27 and 30 foot spans, respectively?
