In this year's Orlando donut eating contest, 36 entrants ate, on average, 68 donuts with a standard deviation of 7 donuts. A group of donut enthusiasts believe this to be lower than the population average of 71 donuts consumed in donut eating contests. Test their hypothesis at alpha = .05

1. State hypotheses (H0 and H1)

2. Select appropriate statistical test

3. Indicate if 1 or 2 tailed test

4. Specify alpha, N, and df (if appropriate)

5. Use appropriate formula to calculated observed/obtained value

6. Determine critical value for test statistic (from a table)
