Health Issues: Grapefruit Juice is supposed to be good for most of my target customers, but that might not always be the case. Drinking grapefruit juice together with certain medicines can increase blood levels of the drug to harmful levels. “[Citrus fruits contain many substances other than Vitamin C and Vitamin A]” and some of them, such as grapefruit and Sevilk oranges, can be dangerous if you’ve taking certain medications. Grapefruit Juice inhibits a chemical in the intestine to break down many drugs in the body. The absence of this chemical can lead to higher blood levels. In effect, the drug become more potent. (WebMD, January o5, 2001). Classes of drugs which may potentially interact with grapefruit juice include painkillers, antihistamines, steroids, and drugs for asthma. However, this doesn’t mean there’s a problem with every drug in these categories- some interact with grapefruit juice, while others do not. • Determine any health issues / claims related to the product you are making, whether negative or positive. • Suggest the strategy your company will use to mitigate any negative issues, and to ensure any positive claims are true.
