ACME Manufacturing (Part 1) You have been hired by ACME to work one day a week, either in the office or from home to provide Payroll and Government Reporting services for a new start-up company, AMCE Manufacturing. The company has started up on January 2, 2019. The company manufactures wrist watch computers. Henry Ford and Terry Carr have each loaned the company $5,000 for startup. The loan is for one year and the company will repay the employees at December 31, 2019 and the agreed upon interest rate for this loan is 7%. (each employee will require a T5 at year end to report the interest income earned from investing in ACME) The company pays employees on a bi-weekly basis and hopes to offer benefits in the near future, however at the date of hiring all new staff there are no benefits in place. Regular work week is 35 hours. The first pay period will be for the Period January 1-11th and will be paid on January 11, 2018. Payroll Information

Problem 1. Mr. Carr would like you to do up the hiring packages, which would include: - an Offer of Employment (letter) - the necessary government documents, TD1 and TD1ONT - Employee Information Sheet
Problem 2. Using the Employment Standards Act you should outline the minimum policies that the company should have in place, in memo form. The company plans to follow all employment laws and that is why they have hired you to provide the expertise in this area. This memo is to let the company know the minimum standards required by law, and let ACME know that you will be applying these minimum rules when you prepare payroll. Your memo should include topics such as stat holiday pay, overtime pay and vacation pay, emergency leave, posting requirements, anything you think the company should know about.
Problem 3. Your first payroll would be for the period January 2-11, assume everyone has worked the required 35 hours per week except for April Summers who worked 46 hours the first week and 48 hours the second week. Process this payroll.
Problem 4. Complete the payroll for the remaining first quarter of the year from January 11 to the last pay period in March. Assuming all employees worked 35 hours per week.
