Case Study: Introduction: Expansion sounds easy, but without the proper organizational design and aligning goals, job descriptions, and responsibilities properly, it can result in chaos. You will analyze a company's current structure to see how it can expand for future success.

Scenario: Your company is PetWorld, located in Miami, Florida. They have been in business for 5 years.

Currently, there are the following personnel: A bi-lingual president and a vice president (VP)/manager, a grooming person, a veterinarian, a pet sleep camp director, a pet behavioral specialist, and four retail salespersons. The clientele comes from all over the world, especially Latin America. The organization has a simple organizational design. There are two assistants (one reporting to the camp director and one reporting to the veterinarian). Ten staff take care of at least 20 pets each. However, the president is feeling a lot of pressure to expand the company so that there is another branch in Ft. Lauderdale nearer to West Palm Beach to accommodate more of the local Florida pets versus all the overseas pets they see.
