Supplies of these materials change from week to week, so the company needs to determine a different production rate each week. Find the number of transistors, resistors, and computer chips that can be produced from the total 960 units of copper, 510 units of zinc, and 610 units of glass. Use zero number of each component as starting point.
a) What kind (class) of problem is this?
b) List all the numerical methods and tools (calculator, software) you know which could be used to solve this problem.
c) Solve the problem by directly using your calculator. Is there only one mathematically correct result for this problem? If you say no, how many mathematically correct results are there? How did you find out the number of correct results? Show your method.
d) Solve the problem using an appropriate numerical method of your choice. Explain why you selected this method. You must show the first two steps by hand + calculator. The rest of the steps can be solved using MS Excel and / or Matlab. Include your Excel table or Matlab results in your solution. You should also calculate the approximate error for your solution.
e) Is it possible to find the true error for your solution? If you say yes, then show how it's possible.
