It is desired to design a power electronic system, referred to as ‘the device' in below, which has the following specifications:

- The device is supplied from a single-phase wall outlet which has a 240 V rms, 50 Hz specification (through terminals I1, I2).

- The device can generate a fixed ±5 V dc (through terminals O1, O2, O3).

- The device can also produce a variable 0 to 20 V dc (through terminals O4, O5).

- The device can also produce two fixed 60 V 50 Hz ac outputs, that can even be connected in series to produce a fixed 120 V ac (through terminals O6, O7, O8).

- The device can also produce a variable 0-60 V, 50 Hz or 60 Hz ac output (through terminals O9, O10). There will be a up/down button on the device to select either 50 or 60 Hz.

- The device will only have one of its outputs functioning at a time (i.e., it will not be loaded through multiple outputs simultaneously).

- The device should be able to supply a load (a variable resistor with a minimum resistance of 10 ohms), when connected to either of its output terminals.

Your Task:

1- Design the circuit and select the appropriate components for that circuit to fulfill the requirements of the device.

2- Verify your design by MATLAB simulations. (Note that different sections of the design can be simulated separately to make the simulation faster.)

Your report should be typed as handwritten reports are not accepted. All circuit topologies should be either drawn by MATLAB or by Visio software tools. All calculations should be provided separately for every selected component, to validate that the selected element matches with the design requirements. All designs should be verified by MATLAB simulations. Please insert the figures of MATLAB with a white background to be easily readable. If the font of the figures is tiny after being inserted into the word document, please modify the fonts size such that they become easily readable. Please scale the figures (to a smaller size) such that the report length can be minimized (i.e., do not put a figure on a single A4 page). Proper references should be provided for any component, assumption, calculation (if required), etc. throughout the report. All Simulink files should be uploaded as a .zip or .rar file while the report should be a .pdf file

The project has to be carried out in groups of 2-3. It is the students’ responsibility to decide with whom they make a group. To find a group member, please talk with each other during the classes or using the Discussion Forum on the LMS (please note that the unit coordinator cannot make groups for the students.) Please decide carefully on being a group member with someone as the same mark will be allocated for all group members, unless they advise the unit coordinator for a different contribution.

Design the circuit and select the appropriate components for that circuit to fulfill the requirements of the device. 2- Verify your design by MATLAB simulations.Note-1: Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances. Note-2: This is an endless project. The higher level of designs will lead to higher marks. The designs will not only be evaluated based on the accuracy of your design but will also be evaluated based on the level of the designs of others. Note-3: Throughout this design activity, you need to make some logical and meaningful assumptions. You also need to search for different components from the market. You can use http://au.element14.com, http://www.digikey.com.au, and http://au.rs-online.com/web/ as a reference but any other resource is also acceptable. The datasheet of all selected components should be attached as appendices to the assignment report, where all utilized parameters on the datasheet are highlighted by color (e.g. in yellow, blue, green, etc.)
