As the new HR manager, you know that you are responsible for the design of the performance appraisal system used throughout the company. You ask a store manager to show you the current performance appraisal that is used to give the sales clerks feedback on their performance. The manager points toward a print out on the bulletin board that shows the sales each employee made last month based on who was at the cash register at the time a customer paid for their purchase. The manager tells you that this is the only specific performance feedback that is given to the employees.
1. What are some of the problems with this method of performance feedback?
