Insurance Claim Application
Recently several major auto insurance companies have determined the cost of using claim adjusters for auto accidents is becoming cost prohibitive. As a result, they have contracted with the Bellevue CIS 622 class to create a new mobile application to allow consumers to start process and complete accident claims themselves.
he traditional process is to report the claim to an agent, take the car to a repair center then wait until the adjuster contacts you for what is covered or not covered and when the repairs will be completed. The new process is to leverage a mobile application that is connected to the insurance carriers claim systems and have the application perform the following functions automatically:
• Issue/approve a claim number immediately for covered auto damage
• Get a list of approved/certified repair centers within the area
• Contact an approved/covered towing service (as needed)
• Auto pay the insured deductible and repair claim
• Receive notification when repairs are completed and vehicle is ready
The CIS 622 class has been asked to create a working prototype of this mobile application and demonstration it to the insurance companies. The desired supported mobile platforms are Android or Apple. Students are given the option to choose between the two platforms and submit their applications to the professor by the end of the course. Students are also asked to provide all supporting design and user documentation with their application submissions.
Unfortunately, no other details have been provided by the insurance carriers other than the bulleted list. In order to facilitate student questions about the requirements a forum has been created "Insurance Claim Application". Each student's is allowed to submit a max of five questions to the professor. Students may use the questions/answers from their peers to better understand the requirements. Any duplicate questions will not be answered by the professor.
The Technical Design Document is a template for you to use within your project. You will enhance this document to include a T itle Page, Document Administration and Table of Contents sections. It is expected that the student will consider this document to be a profession al level document similar to what would be submitted to a client or team during a real mobile development project.
Table of Contents
1 Introduction - This section will provide an overview of the design document and a high level scope of the application and its intended use.
Purpose - Provide a description of what this document.
Scope - Provide a description of the scope of the project this document supports.
2 Design Overview - This section provides a general overview of the technical solution used the meet the business requirements
Approach - Provides a description of the solution being built (this is an extension of the business request with more specific detail of how it's being solved)
Architectural Goals and Constraints - Provides the intended goal of the project and sets the expectation of what can and cannot be accomplished.
Example: if building an apple mobile application it might not be possible to deploy the app to an actual device and must run in emulation mode.
2.4 Design Patterns - Provide an over-view of how the application will be constructed, what tools and platform will be used.
3 Design Diagrams - Create and add design specific diagrams to this section.
