The column must support a compressive axial force of 500 kips. The columns length is 5 ft.

Calculate the deflection of the column. You must choose the number of steel rods n, and the rod diameter. Exact location of roads does not need to be specified. You must also chose a thickness of the wrap.

The ratio of the total cross-sectional area of steel to the cross sectional area of the concrete must not exceed the value nAs/Ac<=0.05 where n is the number of rods.

available diameters ds for steel rods (inches): 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 7/8, 1, 1-1/8, 1-1/4
