Learning and Development, Birth - Two Year Olds

Case study: you are a room lead and receive a phone call from a parent seeking a place for her 18 months old son Jack.

Jack has recently been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum. Jack's parents told you that they just moved to Australia and are working at a restaurant. Jack normally stay with grandparents who speak Chinese only.

During the observation, You have noticed that Jack looked smaller than normal 18 months old young toddlers.

Jack normally crawls around to reach the toys on the ground. Jack's mum told you that Jack still cannot stand independently or even talk during a day. Jack's mum confirmed that Jack does not like vegetables and fruits.

Jack didn't interact with other children around him and unable to use words But Jack like music, animals and playing in the sandpit and puzzles.

B. Compare theoretical perspectives and research about young children's development within families and communities and the importance of responsive caregiving.

C. Synthesise the practical implications of theoretical perspectives and develop education and care approaches to developmental domains.

D. Assess learning and teaching strategies to support development and learning for children with a disability.

E. Design pedagogical strategies to support inclusive and engaging learning for children from diverse linguistic, cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.
