Mobile Game Development

TASK DESCRIPTION

You are required to submit a design and interface prototype for a simple 3D Unity game for Android mobile devices. This should include documentation of the game concept and design details, as well as the beginning of a Unity project that implements some sample interface and game mechanics for your game to give and idea of how the game will run. Your submission should demonstrate the application of the knowledge from the first five weeks of the semester.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

Game has clear play instructions and an end goal
Game interface is well designed and suitable for the game
Game code runs and shows proficiency with Unity
Game design shows creativity and original thinking

Practical Assignment description

- Game concept document
o Type of the game e.g. racing game, shooting game, strategy game etc.
o Single player or multi-player game
o Rules of the game such as
- Game objectives
- Winning and losing conditions
- What the players can/cannot do
- Game difficulty levels
o Challenges that prevent the players from achieving their goals
o Game environment and context
o Why it is a good mobile game (1 paragraph)
- Hint: research what make a good mobile game
o Intended audience
- Game design document:
o Functional requirements
- List functions that the game will have
o Non-functional requirements
- List other requirements such as hardware/software requirements
o User interface design details
- Conceptual design of the interface with clear description of each interface element and its function.
- Use cases i.e. how to users will navigate between the interfaces to perform different functionality.
- Screenshots of the game interfaces implemented in Unity.

• Unity project that implements the game interfaces and some game mechanisms
o Show skills in using Unity tools and assets e.g. game objects, materials, lights, shaders, textures, camera and physics.
o Show skills in writing scripts to control and manipulate game objects using mobile device assets e.g. touch screen and sensors.
o Show ability to use external assets such as 3D models and textures from third party sources.
