Web Application Development Assignment - Case Study & Presentation through E-Portfolio Development
Objectives: Through portfolio development, the student has to design and develop a website. This will enhance the learning experience of the student as he/she completes all the mini tasks of developing a complete website.
Outcomes:
- Design and implement dynamic web pages using JavaScript.
- Design and evaluate websites.
- Use web development software to construct dynamic web pages.
- Work with libraries to manage repeating site elements.
- Create dynamic user-interface elements, including simple rollovers and complex navigation bars.
Task 1: Read the following scenario, understand and design a portfolio.
Scenario: As a developer you are hired to develop an e-portfolio for Example of Smart City at Middle East Country website. Your task is to create a dynamic website using JavaScript and Database connectivity. Welcome or Main page should contain Frames to give a good Look & Feel for the website at least one JavaScript should be used (interaction or date and time etc.). About Us page display information about the contents of this bag it should be displayed having at least one JavaScript.
Technologies page should contain tables giving the facts of different types of technology and how can work with it along with appropriate JavaScript is required. Events/ Projects should give the visitor about what are the various advantages of Smart City. Photo Gallery pages display the visitor with the photos and Videos about Smart City. Innovation page displays about Smart City Techniques to attract the visitors to gain good knowledge, in addition it should have pictures, tables and at least one JavaScript.
Contact us page can give information about the developers of the website and how they can be reached. For Testimonial page database connectivity is required as the user will be providing the information about the website and the comments which is to be stored in Database. Field validation is required either with Dreamweaver, Visual Studio or any other Web application Tools.

Task 2: Evaluate the full website - Middle East College: e-Campus Student Information System, you should mention the following criteria in evaluating the website.
- Strategy & Credibility
- Look & feel
- Usability & Readability
- Traffic & Suggestions to improve the system
Task 3: Work proposal need to be submitted in an MSWord document having the following things:
Create and submit a Work Proposal consisting of below information on before end of Week 9th.
a. Understanding of deliverables - a detail description of deliverables.
b. General overview of proposed plan - initial understanding of solution to task1 and task 2.
c. Resources identified.
d. The work proposal must be submitted in a word file through the link available in Moodle.
Task 4: Individual reflection and presentation.
Instruction -
Answer all the given questions/tasks.
The report should contain the following:
- Title Page (includes Title of the assessment, Names of the student, Student ID, Department Name, Semester Name, Academic Year)
- Table of Contents (Topics covers and page number)
- Answer for tasks given in the scenario.
- Snapshots of the Website is required not the code.
- References (book, journals, internet resources used in preparing the presentation report/slides or others)
- The font size is 12, the font type is Times New Roman and doubled spaced.
- Main heading should be of font size 14 and sub heading should be of font size 12.
- The report should not exceed more than 10 pages.
