Unit M/617/3039 - Computing Projects

Aims: This is a practical unit with two projects:
1. Creation of an e-commerce solution
2. Creation of a Mobile application.
The aim of the first part of this unit is to provide learners with an understanding of how and why businesses and organisations develop E-Commerce strategies and the elements and resources required to set up an E-Commerce site as an implementation of organisational strategies. The learner will develop the skills required to create such an e-commerce solution.
The aim of the first part of this unit is to develop learners' ability to identify and select
relevant APIs to use within a mobile application of their own choice or from a given
scenario, in addition to testing and documenting against the initial design requirement.

Case Scenario
In this assignment you will plan and create an e-commerce solution and a Mobile application. Ideally you should work for a "live client" e.g. a local business who wants a business solution which could be an advanced website and a mobile application.

Task 1 Project Plan and Specification Instructions
Once you have agreed your e-commerce and mobile application projects with your tutor. produce a detailed proposal document that include the following:

b. An evaluation of payment systems that are integral to E-Commerce success.
c. You are required to create project specifications for your projects.
d. You are required to create project plans for your projects.

Task 2 A working E-commerce solution (Lab based) Instructions
You are now required to follow your project specification and plan to create an e-commerce solution.
a. Design and implement an E-Commerce solution.
b. Test the functionality of the solution against the specification.
c. Critically evaluate the success of the E-Commerce solution.

Task 3 A working mobile application (Lab based) Instructions
You are now required to follow your project specification and plan to create a fully working mobile application.
a. Develop a mobile application in a chosen platform (i0S/Android or similar) utilising multiple APIs.
b. Test the mobile application.
c. Create a design for an application that will utilise a range of APIs.
d. Test the mobile application after API implementation.
