Learning Outcome 4: Be able to implement API to a mobile application.
Aim: This is a practical unit with two projects:
1. Creation of an e-commerce solution
2. Creation of a Mobile application.
The aim of the first part of this unit is to provide learners with an understanding of how and why businesses and organisations develop E-Commerce strategies and the elements and resources required to set up an E-Commerce site as an implementation of organisational strategies. The learner will develop the skills required to create such an e-commerce solution.
The aim of the first part of this unit is to develop learners' ability to identify and select relevant APIs to use within a mobile application of their own choice or from a given scenario, in addition to testing and documenting against the initial design requirement.
Scenario
In this assignment you will plan and create an e-commerce solution and a Mobile application. Ideally you should work for a "live client" e.g. a local business who wants a business solution which could be an advanced website and a mobile application.
Task 1 - Project Plan and Specification
Instructions
Once you have agreed your e-commerce and mobile application projects with your tutor, produce a detailed proposal document that include the following:
a. An assessment of the technologies involved in setting up a secure E- Commerce site.
b. An evaluation of payment systems that are integral to E-Commerce success.
c. You are required to create project specifications for your projects.
d. You are required to create project plans for your projects.
Task 2 - A working E-commerce solution
Instructions
You are now required to follow your project specification and plan to create an e- commerce solution.
a. Design and implement an E-Commerce solution.
b. Test the functionality of the solution against the specification.
c. Critically evaluate the success of the E-Commerce solution.
Task 3 - A working mobile application
Instructions
You are now required to follow your project specification and plan to create a fully working mobile application.
a. Develop a mobile application in a chosen platform (iOS/Android or similar) utilising multiple APIs.
b. Test the mobile application.
c. Create a design for an application that will utilise a range of APIs.
d. Test the mobile application after API implementation.
e. Critically evaluate the success of the mobile solution.
f. Critically evaluate the success of the API solution in your mobile application.
