Workflow Analysis and Management
Presentation Assessment Detail:
Assessment task
In this assessment item, you are required to design and deliver an oral presentation around the case study provided for the Case Study Report Assessment. In the presentation, you are required to demonstrate an understanding of the case study (with critical context) and most importantly demonstrate your presentation skills.
Assessment Format
The presentation will be delivered as a group consisting of the same members that would have been decided for the Case Study Report Assessment. The presentation will be of a 20-minute duration, including time for questions and answers (Q&A) session towards the end. There is no limit to the number of slides, however you are required to stick to the20 minute timeframe. A suggested structure for the presentation is outlined below:
• Title slide
• Presentation outline slide
• Introduction slide
• Organisational background slide
• Problems faced and Purpose slide
• Part 1 slide/s
• Part 2 slide/s
• Part 3 slide/s
• Part 4 slide/s
• Conclusion slide
• Recommendations slide
• References slide
Parts 1, 2, 3 & 4 relate to the topics specified in the Case Study Report Assessment. It is important that you read and understand the case study before designing the presentation slides.
It is expected that each team member will contribute equally. The group should collate a list of the key points to be covered as per the suggested presentation structure and assign tasks to each member, which they need to accomplish i.e. researching, developing slides and presenting. The presentation slides can be made using PowerPoint or other presentation tools such as Prezi.
Case Study Report Assessment:
You are required (as a group with twoto four members) to write a report based on the provided case study. This case study is timeless as it describes essential elements of workflow implementation undertaken by a university, which holds true even years later.
For this report, you are to critically evaluate and write about a university's focus on upgrading their existing information systems in order to improve process workflow and stay innovative. In doing so, you will emphasise theneed for the project, workflow systems, process modelling, socio-technical issues, change managementand lessons learnt and importantly what could be done differently in today's environmentas depicted in the case study and other relevant scholarly sources.
For the main body of the report, you are advised to incorporate the four-part structure as outlined below:
Part 1: Workflow Systems
Some points to consider are:
» Organisationalbackground
» Workflows, workflow systems/technology and benefits
» Problems in workflow design
» Organisational structure
Part 2: Process Modelling
Some points to consider are:
» Importance of process modelling in system design and implementation
» Process modelling techniques
» Mistakes in process modelling and avoidance
Part 3: Socio-Technical Considerations
Some points to consider are:
» Politics during implementation and counteracting it
» Technology as a process enabler
» Social impact of technology implementation
Part 4: Change Management and Lessons Learned
Some points to consider are:
» Process of managing change
» Lessons learned -enablers and barriers of process changes
» Social innovation (In response to this, consider about social responsibilities and social innovationand how the university can drive social innovation to improve its processes. There is nothing about social innovation in the case study).
In addition to the case study, you will need to refer to other scholarly sources to address the above points and produce a coherent report. All the above points are provided as a guide and should not limit your reasoning and critical analysis.
Improvements, based on any identified shortcomings, should be provided in the Conclusion section of your report.
