Aim - To provide an understanding of the underlying principles of reaction kinetics required for a process engineer.
Learning Outcomes
1. To understand different types of chemical reactions2. To analyze the reaction kinetics and to find the rate expression3. Design and analyze the behavior of reactors under various operating conditions4. Understand the application of chemical reactors in various process Industries and make proper reactor selection
Task
Oral Presentation
Oral presentation will be conducted at the end of the semester on the 11'1 week. Presentation is required to test student's knowledge and presentation skills. Group presentation comprises of two to three (maximum) students and will be individually mark according to the marking rubrics. Students will be given 10 minutes duration to present their chosen topic related to Chemical Reaction Engineering which includes type of reactors with design and calculations, innovations or recent developments of reactors. various operating conditions, reaction kinetics, rate expressions. application and importance to different industries.
Contents of Presentation.1. Title2. Introduction3. In depth discussion of the selected topic4. Data and calculations5. Applications and importance to different industries6. References (CCE-Harvard Referencing)
