Problem

Design an observational experiment where you will try to find social conformity in a mundane, real-life situation. You may conduct this experiment in a team of no more than 4 members if it suits the nature of your experiment.

I. Pick a social situation and observe where people conform to something without being told to. This could be a family situation (ex. eating dinner) or a social situation (ex. waiting in line, using stairs/elevator, theatre...).

II. Try and behave deviant and observe how people around you react. For instance, you could enter the elevator and face the back (like in the Elevator Experiment); or, if you observe that people conform to not smiling when waiting in line, smile; or, if people conform to speaking informally/using slag deviate from that by speaking very formally. Be subtle! It's not about getting in trouble or doing something "crazy" but about testing harmless conformities.

III. Write a short summary of your experience.
