  • You will select one theory from your readings either from the chapter on motivation or the chapter on leadership.
  • For motivation, select one of these theories: equity theory, expectancy theory, reinforcement theory, or goal-setting theory. Apply and analyze this theory in a real-world situation, preferably a current or previous work experience or organization. For example, analyze an employee program or incentive using one of these theories and evaluate its effectiveness in terms of motivating employees and achieving desired results. Or select one theory and design an employee program or incentive that you think would benefit your organization and explain why.

For leadership, select one of these theories: Fiedler's contingency theory, path-goal theory, normative decision theory, or visionary leadership.  Apply and analyze this theory to a real-world situation based on your current or previous work experiences. For example you could analyze a supervisor's leadership style  and evaluate how effective the approach has been (no names or specific identifying traits should be included). Or you could analyze your own leadership style and evaluate your effectiveness and determine what you can do to increase your leadership potential and success.

Please note you should choose only one theory and you have the choice to discuss either a theory on motivation or one on leadership.  Please present your discussion post as one to two paragraphs that illustrate your understanding of the theory's main points and your ability to practically apply them in a real-world context.
