Task

You are a Marketing Consultant working in a well-known UK based marketing consulting organisation. The CEO has asked you to analyse and come out with a marketing plan for one of their clients who owns the brand Home Base. He has tasked you with the responsibility of analysing the company's existing products, segmentation and marketing strategies and design an appropriate marketing plan. You are required to write a report detailing what your plans are and how you intend to implement them appropriately.

Your report should cover the following points:

  • Give a brief overview of the organisation and the products and services that are currently in its portfolio.
  • Examine the current marketing mix factors. Also analyse the segmentation strategies that are being adopted. Provide recommendations on how the marketing mix can be improved by leveraging appropriate technologies.
  • Evaluate how the new marketing strategies can satisfy the needs of the specific target customers and how it can attract new consumers.
  • Evaluate the brand and propose recommendations for improving the brand value and proposition.

Suggested Structure

Title / Cover page (title including the name of the chosen organisation)
Executive Summary / Abstract for not more than 250 words (this will not be part of your word count.
Table of contents (headings, sub-headings with numbering) Introduction (aim of the report, overview of chosen organisation and the products services, present structure of report)
Body (literature, research, discussion, findings)
Conclusion (recommendations based on the findings, summary of key points emerging from the analysis above) References (aim for a minimum of 20 different sources; balanced mix of academic sources - books and journal articles and non-academic sources such as - websites, media sources, reports, statistics etc.)
Appendix (optional) (eg. PEST/SWOT etc.)

The tasks address all the learning outcomes.
The use of a range of information sources is expected -academic books, peer reviewed journal articles, professional articles, press releases and newspaper articles, reliable statistics, company annual reports and other company information.
