Assignment #1 - Design a Workplace Values and Norms Reference Tool (15%)Objective of this Assignment: Step 1:
To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of tools, approaches and techniques to support the adoption of workplace values and norms.
For this assignment, read the following scenario:
You are a manager at a small, but growing, aerospace manufacturing firm specializing in complex research and development projects that support Canada's quest to populate Mars. The organization handles extremely dangerous and sensitive materials that are used in the development of advanced products and the weight and stress on the employee group is high as a result of many unknown characteristics relating to materials that are being used. You recognize that you need to implement a healthy workplace program, including tools that support employee retention, resilience and job satisfaction. To support this, you are tasked with implementing a set of workplace norms and values that both support the employee group, and the organization's goals.
Your job is to design a reference tool that supports positive team dynamics and the adoption of workplace norms and values. The tool should be in an easy to use format that everyone can understand.
Step 2:
Design a 'Workplace Values and Norms' reference tool. The tool must be detailed and encompass (at a minimum) a set of values and norms that are articulated and written down; outlined links to the workforce and the work being done; metrics on how success in achieving workplace values and norms will be captured; and a conflict resolution mechanism for broad organizational use for when team members are not adhering to the values and norms communicated. You must design the program from the scenario provided above. If there is information that you require that is not noted in the scenario, just make your own assumptions but ensure to note them in your assignment.
Step 3:
1. The assignment details should be captured in approximately 650 (not including the cover or references - see below). It will be marked based on the rubric below.
