Q.1 Screw Conveyer

For a specific job, it is required to transport a limestone (Dust) from slotted hopper to feed a higher-level application. As the feed is controlled at the level of 25+P metric t/hr, a screw feeder without extension for placement under the slotted hopper is suggested for the job.

Put in consideration that even flow rate required along the whole inlet opening. The length of the feeder is 10+ (Q/3) m, inclined at (30 + P)° to discharge at the application. A motor with 1000 + QPQ rpm nominal speed, v-belt drive, connected to a double reduction shaft mounted speed reducer to run the screw feeder.

Design and select the proper screw feeder for the job.

You are required to design a vertical spaced bucket elevator to elevate a dry sand with density of 1600 kg/m3 at ambient temperature. You must recommend an adequate bucket style and determine the power required for operation.
Design Considerations:
• Required tonnage = 180 + (PQ/2) t/h
• Elevator centre/centre height = 27 + P m
• Maximum head pulley diameter 1250 mm (due to space limitations)
• Angle of wrap of head pulley = 180º
