Introduction to Technology in Education
Assessment: Resource design
Task
For this assessment, you will design a short 'lesson' and you will justify that design, drawing on academic literature. To do this:
• Chose a learning topic, skill or procedure to teach.
• Choose a theoretical perspective.
• Design a technologically integrated and/or digitally-delivered lesson to teach your topic to a specific audience.
• Use of digital technology in the lesson should reflect the theoretical perspective
The lesson should include:
• Topic being learned
• The audience
• Outline of the activity
• Outline of the assessment
• Guidelines for activity
• Additional resources needed
You will then support your design choices through:
• Rationale for using the digital technology or digital delivery (e.g. the affordance or benefit) in relation to the expected learning
• Justification of alignment between theoretical perspective, learning and ICT
This can be designed as an online resource or submitted as a word document. The word length is ‘equivalent' to account for different modes of delivery, e.g. creating a website involves additional planning.
Additional details are available in Moodle.
Assessment Criteria: • Mastery of digital learning methods applicable in the field
• Synthesis of theoretical principles and technical skills
• Critical reflection on the role of technology in professional practice
• Application of relevant research and principles in a new situation
• Clarity and conciseness of communication and analysis
