Select an organisation of your choice. This may be a profit or non-profit organisation such as a supermarket, club or society, education provider or small business. You will need to interview a member of this organisation by phone, email or in person, to obtain general information.
1. I need to come up with a questionnaire to use for your interview to find out why a change/innovation occurred. You could include the following words as part of your questionnaire: creativity, innovation, staff/people, communication, technology, structure, stakeholders, environment, community sustainability, leadership, resistance, uncertainty, and risk. At least 10 questions
2. Identify one change/innovation that this organisation is undertaking (or has undertaken recently). This may be from one of these three categories: structural, technological or people, or a combination of any of them. Explain briefly how this change/innovation fits into one or more of the above-mentioned categories, ensure that you include enough detail to demonstrate your understanding of the change category. Has to be a large paragraph.
3. Consider possible internal and external sources of opportunity that would enable the organisation to change/innovate to grow this organisation. Summarise one source of opportunity and explain how it has informed the organisation to seek change/innovation towards growth.
4. On a scale of 1-10 identify the level at which you think the organisation is being innovative? Justify your answer, including at least two references.
5. Using appropriate headings, identify and explain two short and two long term risks of the change/innovation. Highlight one of these risks and then recommend how the organisation could manage this risk. It is recommend that this question has a large answer.
6. Explain how the change/innovation being made by the organisation will contribute to its sustainability/ longevity. It is recommend that this question has a large answer.
7. I need to design a SMART goal for the organisational change you have focused on. Explain two tools the organisation would use to measure the success of the SMART goal.
8. Reflect upon your learning from your answers to tasks 2-7. Your reflection should explain how your understanding has developed and about why and how change/innovation occurs.
