Reference no: EM13718500

You have been asked to design a small engine for a lawn mower. You will need to investigate the typical lawn mower engine size in the market and develop a competing design.

You will need in your deign to look at how your mechanism will be balanced, the forces at each joint as well as the shaking / vibration forces that are inherent in your design.

You will have complete control over bore, stroke, con-rod and crank lengths. Keep your design to a four stroke engine as shown below; you do not need to worry about the inlet/outlet part of the engine.

Assessment:

• Calculations of the entire 360 degree stroke of your engine including, joint forces, shaking forces, and all calculations you used to balance your design and associated justifications.

• There should be a combination of spread sheet as well as simulation based results from SolidWorks motion.

• This is an individual assignment, all assumptions and boundary conditions must be listed.

• The submission should be in a report format of no less than 10 pages
