EEE 503 Assignment -

In a scientific study, electroencephalogram (EEG) data was acquired from subjects. However, it was found that the signal from the EEG was affected by two problems. The first problem was caused by noise from the mains, improperly filtered. The signal was also found to ride on a very large DC offset, which was considered undesirable.

STEPS -

1. Design a simple operational amplifier-based circuit to solve the problem.

2. Construct and simulate the circuit you designed in National Instruments Multisim.

3. Obtain the design for a Sallen-Key topology filter that would eliminate the two noise sources in the acquired signal.

4. Simulate the design in Multisim.

SUBMIT - 1. A Microsoft Word document containing answers to the following questions:

a. Show the circuit you designed in Step 1

b. Clearly state all important design choices

c. Briefly explain how the circuit works

d. Describe how you simulated the circuit in Step 2, clearly stating all the important paramaters and settings used.

e. State, in two paragraphs, your observations from the simulation in Step 2.

f. What are the differences in structure between the Sallen-Key filter in Step 3 and yours?

g. Describe any observed differences in the Sallen-Key filter's simulation performance versus your?

h. From the above, what can you conclude about the filter design method to which you were introduced in EEE503?

2. The multisim files for your filter and the Sallen-Key design.
