Design a signal conditioning circuit for a K-type thermocouple, which produces output voltage of 0V-5V using a three terminal solid-state temperature sensor for reference junction compensation. The sensitivity of the sensor is 4mV/C. Use 0C and 100C as design base points. (Problem 4.29 p220)
a) Assuming the reference junction temperature TR is zero; derive the expression for signal conditioner output voltage V0 in terms of the thermocouple voltage Vth.
b) When T(r) not 0, develop an expression for V0 in term of measurement junction voltage Vm and reference junction temperature TR, utilizing reference junction compensation.
Sketch a block diagram which implements the solution derived in (b), labeling each block with appropriate name and corresponding gain. Each signal/variable in the diagram must be identified.
Two dc motors are compared. the first one is a 4hp dc motor which draws a current or 0.7A when the field is connected to a 150V source. the second, a 600 hp motor draws a field current of 5A when the field is connected to a 300V dc source.
For each of the following systems with input x(t) and output y(t), state whether or not the system is (i) Linear and (ii) Time Invariant. Note that x(t) could be any complex valued signal. (a) y(t) = a^2 x(t), where a is a complex number.
Using MATLAB, plot the pole zero map and the Bode plot of the two transfer functions and paste the graphs below. Identify and briefly discuss the differences between the Bode plot of the two transfer functions.
