Group Project

Design a quantitative study and prepare a report on your research project. Descriptive statistics, at least TWO DIFFERENT bivariate tests and multiple linear regression tests are required to be used in your project. In particular, you are required to:

1. Identify your research questions

2. Develop the appropriate hypotheses associated with each of the above research questions

3. Apply the appropriate statistical techniques to test these hypotheses

4. Use the Microsoft Excel to produce the results

5. Interpret your results from Excel and form the conclusions

6. Make useful recommendations to the relevant users of your report.

Notes:

1. Only provide descriptive statistics for variables used in multivariate analysis.

2. Bivariate tests include two independent samples t-test, paired samples t-test, one-way ANOVA, correlation and chi-square test.

3. The research topics/scenarios covered in our lecture notes cannot be used in the group project.

4. You must clearly state in the report how you collect your data.

Dataset: You are required to collect at least 100 observations for your sample based on your research questions and conduct the statistical analysis based on the data you have collected. You are also required to submit your data in Microsoft Excel format together with your report.

Report Format: The following is an indicative structure of your report:

- Introduction

- Research Design

- Results and Discussion

- Conclusion and Recommendation

- References

- Appendices

Checklist for assignment submission:

1. Cover sheet with student names and ID;

2. Group Report, and

3. Dataset used to conduct statistical analysis

The moderated individual mark received by each group member is based on contribution to the assignment and, more importantly the ability to work with others. You must complete APEG within 24 hours of the due date. Note NO APEG, NO MARK. Information on APEG can be found on Blackboard. Marking Rubric: The marking rubric used to mark this assessment is attached below. Note that it is each student’s responsibility to keep a copy of each assessment task submitted.

Your assignment should be DOUBLE-SIDED printed and firmly stapled in the top left-hand corner. Do not use folders or plastic sleeves. The following items need to be included in the order listed: 1. ‘ASSIGNMENT/ASSESSMENT ITEM COVER SHEET’, fully completed and signed; 2. ‘Group Project Marking Rubric’ (see page 3), completed Group No.. This marking sheet will summarise your mark for each question and may provide a form of additional feedback; and 3. Your assignment. Marks Formation: 1. The assignment is worth 30 marks, with 20 marks assigned for the group report and 10 marks for group presentation in week 12. 2. A single mark is given for the assignment. This mark is then moderated by self and peer assessment using the APEG software so that individual group members may receive different marks.

Report Submission: The Group Project Report is to be handed in, in hardcopy form, at the LECTURE (NOT at the Hub) on Wednesday 30 (Week 12). It is MANDATORY that the hardcopy Group Project Report handed in at the lecture has been satisfactorily submitted in electronic form to Turnitin beforehand. Note, the hardcopy submitted in the lecture must be exactly the same as the electronic version submitted to Turnitin. Remember only one member of the group need submit to Turnitin but all members of the group are responsible for any incorrect matching text that may result.

Guidelines: Group Project Weighting: 30% Due on 30th Purpose: The group project is an opportunity for the group to demonstrate their knowledge of the specific issues pertaining to quantitative research covered in the course. Based on the objectives of the study, the group is to use appropriate statistical techniques discussed during the course in analysing the data. Group Formation: Students are to self-form their own groups of THREE to FOUR (MAXIMUM) to work on this assessment throughout the semester. This is NOT an individual assessment. Group member names are required to be submitted in writing in the lecture or in the email by the end of WEEK 3. Report Length and Format: The report should be between 2000 and 2500 words typed using MS Word and 1.5 lines spacing with at least 2.5 cm margins, excluding the tables, figures and appendices. The following is an indicative structure of your report: ? Introduction ? Research Design ? Results and Discussion ? Summary and Conclusion ? References ? Appendices
